James X. Bormes, of Counsel
James X. Bormes concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, construction litigation and employment litigation. He received his law degree from Saint Louis University in 1988 and his B.A. cum laude from Saint Louis University in 1984. After graduating from law school, he clerked for the late Honorable William L. Beatty in the United States District Court, the Southern District of Illinois, Alton, Illinois; and then entered private practice in Chicago, IL. Mr. Bormes has extensive experience with the Illinois Mechanics Lien Statute and the Miller Act and he has represented owners, general contractors, subcontractors and sureties on government and commercial projects in state and federal court in Illinois, Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas and Delaware and before the American Arbitration Association. He has litigated numerous employment discrimination cases, including claims based on sex, race, AIDS and the exercise of First Amendment rights relating to religion and speech. He has also represented plaintiffs and defendants in class actions in a wide variety of areas, including claims for securities fraud, consumer fraud, federal wage violations and violations of ERISA. He has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1988. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois and he is also admitted to practice in federal court in the Southern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, and the Western District of Texas. He has been awarded an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell.
